FRP looks good, added it to my BOM, I'm considering the steel tubing too. (tu)
$55.71, Structural Fiberglass Square Tube, 2" x 2", 1/8" Wall Thick, 10' Length

More square tubing, might be good for the arm, and column.
Check out the brackets for attaching the column:

A couple of glues to consider:

$11.93 Flexible Sealant for Plastics, 10.1-Ounce Size
operating temperature range is -75° to +350° F

$21.55, 3M 5200 Marine Adhesives/Sealants, 10-Ounce
Temperature range is -40° to +190° F.
These polyurethanes can be used to bond fiberglass (FRP) and wood.
