Re: Grounded Experimental Delta Printer
Looking better! How do you plan on homing it? EDIT : You might be able to home it by having a small hole in an identical spot on all three wheels. Use a through beam sensor to detect the hole.

I forgot to add that to my todo list. I have a few ideas. I think I will use your idea. Instead of a hole, I will make a slot. During homing each arm with travel to the light/dark interface. You can...

... instead of homing you could use some high-res encoding data on the disks, so after power up the actual absolute position can be read by rotating the disks until the nearest encoding raster is...

Interesting! For Homing on Morgan I use a small magnet inserted into a hole in the disk, with a digital hall effect sensor as limit switch. Because the magnet moves sideways, the switching range of...

have you looked at kossels fishing lines pullys and the ideas behind? [www.youtube.com] the lines are fixed with screws on the wheel and doesn't depend on friction for driving the wheels

I wonder about the math required for your coordinate transformations. It will not be the simple math that rostock/kossel builds get to use. I'm willing to take a stab at it if you want.

Hah. Couldn't stop thinking about it so I did the math. You may have some trouble with the speed of the controller, because the coordinate transformation takes some heavy lifting as far as the math...

Above you guys can see that I will use cheapo hall effect homing. There will be no need for a full feedback loop. I like the idea of using the encoded desk or potentiometer but I am opting for the...

As Nicholas just stated, accuracy is not important any more. That is the beauty of electronic adjustment. It frankly does not matter where the switch is, as long as the repeatability is good. Then you...

@Annirak: I agree whole-heatedly with the idea that math should be second to rigidity. However, I like how much easier the math is if all the arms connect on one plane. (I also think people will be...
