even for me after struggling with a j-head requiring too much force i change the extruder to a mk8 drive wheel which solved the problem to a great extent but too be on a safer side i am going to change my j-head to a E3d v6 as soon as i recieve it.. I have a self built shorter e3d (35mm length ) working on my mendelmax and that made a huge difference to the print quality from a clone j-head ..
if by any chance you are using one of the clone chinese j-heads just throw them out of the window. They are not worth the waste of time and filament.
