I agree with xclusive585 on suspecting the endstop wiring. To me it sounds as if your endstops are connected between +5 V and GND and are therefore causing the power supply's short circuit protection to shut down the power supply. You can verify this with a voltmeter - I don't recall if there is a power LED on the Arduino board.
The endstop connector is not the same across RepRap motherboards. E.g. Generation7 and RAMPS has GND in the middle while Teensylu has +5 V in the middle. Additionally, RAMPS endstops has signal on the middle pin. So recheck your endstop wiring.
