Re: Perfect Build Surface For PLA?
Since CF vinyl seems to work nicely for a no-heat bed, has anyone tried a whole sheet of carbon fiber? If it works it would make your bed super light.

He used a vinyl sticker, not real carbon fiber. That would be another test. Rolls of shelf liner vinyl is cheap though....how about Formica? Or countertop laminate? Strong and flexible.

Very nice. I saw your pics and did somthig similar. I have tried several hot ends and the "J" head is the only one that doesn't melt filament before hot end. What are the feed rates you are using?

People have printed on Carbon Fiber before and I'm sure still do. That's just one example, I've seen a few over the past year.

Got my CF vinyl DI-NOC today, hour of recalibrating my bed level and height and it prints without heat quite well. I might do heat just to get some extra tack, the starts and sharp corners don't like...

Sorry, I just don't see a big enough difference in the griffin to be able to call it better.

the 3dr is great only if you get the parts printed perfectly .. If you have any warp or lift on the parts or your printer is not perfectly aligned you will have a mis aligned frame . Were as on the...

Thanks. I've got my solidoodle running very well. I printed a single base piece of the 3DR yesterday just to see how it comes out and it was perfect, so I'm confident I can do that fine. As for the...

I realize you want to use a RUMBA, but does the control board used really matter that much? I was under the impression most of the boards were essentially interchangeable, with just a few tweaks to...

@rdm6 sure go ahead and build it . You will not regret it. But do use aluminium spools for the spectra lines.

I can't recall the feed rates off the top of my head. However I had a resistor failure, the wire broke on the resistor and found my printer this morning moving empty. I should have fastened the wires...

I would think it's one of your steppers skipping encoder steps. Check your belt/tendon tension, leveling, and hotend temperature, in that order. I've seen something similar on my Rostock MAX, though...

Thanks for your suggestions. I did wonder about skipping steps. What puzzles me most is that the error is so consistent. I would have expected skipping steps to be a bit more random. When the problem...
