Maybe i didn't understand correctly, but there are threaded balls, i.e. used in piercing Lots of sizes available Also, there are lots of "inner thread balls"

Can someone provide a link to approximatly 22mm chrome steel or regular steel balls with inner or outer threads? Stainless usually won't work.

Och and you can increas the maximum ±18° wiggle angle to ±30° angle by filing the rims of the angle ball joint socket. But it is still probably not enough for you and you may need to replace the steel...
