Re: Grounded Experimental Delta Printer
Quotenicholas.seward @brandonh: Added the branch. Great idea. I am new to source management. [github.com] I will merge it once we can verify that it doesn't cause any problems. Thanks! Looks good...

@brandonh: I terminate the PTFE tube at the top and then have another stub tube that goes through the hub. You are right that 5mm is odd. It should work but I will downsize it to 4.2mm. I will work up...

New pics added to the Flickr Simpson set. The two arms have all of their major hardware installed (the endstop is missing, but that's because I haven't printed the new eccentric bit yet). Some tips on...

Quotebrandonh Right, but then you've got to thread an m4 nut on slippery PTFE for 3 full inches, which seems like a bit of extra effort. If the nut was at the bottom of Hub Bottom, next to the hotend,...

Thanks for all the info Mike. I was able to run your Gcode twice and I've posted a video of it here: [www.youtube.com] It makes a lot of noise, but it looked like it took 5 seconds for the first move...

I do not like the extruder assembly on Simple the filament jams and the gear can not push the filament into the hot end and I get failed prints unless I babysit and push down on the filament when...

I imagine this design, coupled with the "threadless ballscrew" could be great (e.g, [www.thingiverse.com], I just pulled the first one I found its not the best.) Way to take what first sounds like a...

Did the guy who made the 3DR "extensions" for a bigger build platform release his files? I was having trouble finding them.
View ArticleRe: LISA Simpson
@Tomek: That is a great idea. I need to make one of these "threadless ballscrews" and test it. I have no idea if you would get positioning creep without threaded screws. (I expect the rod to form...

Hi Tomek, I don't know if you refer to mines... anyway, I have just uploaded them: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:194631 I still need to document the whole process and what other changes I made to...

Looks like a rostock to me. I don't see where the quad bit comes in, except for there being 4 motors like on any other rostock.. I really like the build design, with the wooden reinforcements. I was...

You need to use a harden steel rod or the bearing edges will wear a grove. Backlash is about .002, but it depends on how much you load the bearing. Naturally self cleaning.
View ArticleRe: LISA Simpson
@A2: I know that the backlash is near enough to zero but what about position creep. If you go back and forth 1000 times have you lost your zero?

It's too many years since I've seen one, I don't know how far off it could be after 1000's of moves, another engineers project. But they are good for slightly dirty wet environment. Creep of the...

@TheTechnicalNoob: It is a Rostock style bot but there are 4 of them stacked on top of each other. I think that qualifies as awesome! I really like this design. There could be some optimizations done...

[attachment 22275 STRINGROUTING.png] I hope this clears up any questions about the string routing. (It looks like a subway map to me. I hope it will help people find their way.)

As you guys have noticed, this thread is getting out of hand and will just get worse once a lot of people start making Simpsons. For those that are building, I suggest that we move the party....
