I believe the Rostock firmware works with some modification?

Is there a method to use regular 1" square aluminium extrusions?

I happen to have three lengths of 1" square aluminium extrusion. I realize openbeam, t-slot, v-groove etc is better, but I have here and it is free. I'm thinking of a Cerberus Pup/Kossel Mini printer....

Re: :)-DDeltaprintr - Teaser Video is OUT!

Just curious, That colored I'm guessing Polycarbonate bed. Is that for show or buildable? How well will that standup? Looks cool.

Re: Grounded Experimental Delta Printer

I thought I doodled the inverse kinematics up at the start of this thread. [forums.reprap.org] They need a little updating for the new design. Nicholas.Seward used essentially the same math, but with...

Re: Grounded Experimental Delta Printer

A few notes: I like simplicity so I have done a few things in my design to simplify the math. What Annirak has written above will cover any generic Simpson with a concentric extruder. (Off axis...

Re: Is there a method to use regular 1" square aluminium extrusions?

Imagine a square sleeve. Split it diagonally. Incorporate 608 bearing mount points so you can have bearings riding on all four sides. I would do a 2-1-2-1 pattern for the bearings. You can zip tie the...

Re: Why is filament line better than belts?

If you want to make a precise machine that doesn't need a lot of maintenance then belts are a must. In my book, there are two reasons to use fishing line. It is cheaper. It can do routings that belts...

Re: :)-DDeltaprintr - Teaser Video is OUT!

The bed is orange acrylic 1/4" thick. It works very well for PLA and we have done several prints on it already without any issues.

That is a cool feature. very nice.

Thank you I'll have to hobble something together until I have a working printer to make proper parts

Re: Why is filament line better than belts?

Thought I'd chime in here as although there is no reference, it seems you're referring to the Deltaprintr if I'm not mistaken :) There are a couple of reasons that we decided to go with strings. 1....

Re: Is there a method to use regular 1" square aluminium extrusions?

Here is a no printer version. All you need is... 2x2 lumber (1.5"x1.5") 6x 5/16"-2.25" bolts 6x 1/4" washers (You need the smaller washer to get a tight fit on the bolt.) 6x 5/16" nuts 6x 608 skate...

Re: Grounded Experimental Delta Printer

Storing calibration data on the host may be better for multiple toolheads anyway? i.e. offset extruders, varying nozzle sizes, a rotating toolhead?

Re: Why is filament line better than belts?

As an (electronic) engineer I find many components of RepRap printers heavily oversized and therefore also overpriced. If you develop a product you should always use the components that serve the...

Thank you very much. That seems very doable. I will post pictures when I'm done for any future strapper.:-)

Re: Grounded Experimental Delta Printer

I'm being pedantic. Quotenicholas.seward The Annirak Drive or the Proportional Gear Joint Drive both make the relative rotation of one of the steppers proportional to la, lb, or lc. Not quite. I mean,...

Re: Idea: A blacksmith bot based on Simpson

That does look interesting. And expensive :P I wish I could try some of that stuff but I don't see it--along with lasers and arch welders--being in my budget any time soon. At the moment I'm thinking...

Re: New arm design for Simpson style printer.

I love this printed gear bearing. Maybe not entirely helpful in this case, but still inspirational. [youtu.be] You could print a circular inner bearing gear path and custom outer cam profile?
