Need help: Motors go correct direction. HOME is reversed?
Hello! Kossel running Ramps 1.4. Marlin (for delta) In Repetier Host. My motors will move up and down via the up and down arrows under MANUAL. But if I press HOME for any of the 3 the carriages go...

@Jon: I am not sure what is meant by a parallelogram linkage. Are you talking about something like THOR Simpson? It would only work if you do that to two arms. However, I would advise you to figure...

This layout is better, as you you can locate two holes with the same reference. It's also much easier to discern where the two lines intersect. How to locate the holes for the bearings in the upper...

Thanks for the ideas. Gang drilling pilot holes in all three plates at one time seems like a do-able thing. Sounds like it's time to dig out the big table and strap it on the drill press. Probably...

For me it is, at least while I have my own machine. After that I will surely kept posting new ideas and trying them in the real world.

Well, I ordered the screws today 7/16 steel , after talking to Roton they informed me that stainless steel was not available. I think the solution for me is to nickel plate for protection against...

@uncle_bob: I would advise against A2's method for locating the holes. (Sorry A2.) I would use this technique to lay out your holes. No math required and less of a chance for roundoff error to mess...

Try to check this in Configuration.h: // ENDSTOP SETTINGS: // Sets direction of endstops when homing; 1=MAX, -1=MIN #define X_HOME_DIR 1 #define Y_HOME_DIR 1 #define Z_HOME_DIR 1

@ Nicholas: No problem I'll be happy to nickel plate your screws. Theoretically we could change the size of the screw by leaving them in the copper plating tank longer. Maybe I'll experimentation with...

@Dannydefe: Will we be able to get the screw through the bearings after plating them? It might be smarter to not worry about reducing the backlash.
View ArticleRe: LISA Simpson
That's a good point but there seems to be some play in the bearings on the 3/8 screws. Do you have the specs for the bearings for the 7/16 screws, I'd like to get those ordered.

Well with all the money I'll save drilling this in the basement, there's lots more left in the cookie jar for Torqspline. I realize nobody has ever seen a 7/16 based version (yet) so this is a bit...

As a guess I suspect there is the ability to make this taller or wider. The new screws sound pretty skookum (big, solid) , so we can certainly have a family of these.

So, is Max the top and min the bottom? That wasn't clear. And in printer prefs in Repetier, I did change from MIN, MAX, and 0. But HOMING did not change. Will try again.

@uncle_bob: Based on some of the equations I posted above you could make the screws about 34" long. (That would have the same max deflection as the 3/8" ones I have already tested.) Here is an...

I recall reading about someone who reportedly used steel bearings on aluminium extrusions without problems by putting electrical heatshrink plastic around the bearings. Can anybody confirm that this...

Thanks, That worked. Had to move my endstop pins over. Now homing works. What next should I test or configure? Don't have my end effector attached yet. That's next.
