Re: LISA Simpson Take 2

I have sourced some of the aluminum tube that I suggested on the other design. That stuff is *heavy*. It's also a bit exciting to cut. The PVC is probably a better way to go for a generic design.

Re: LISA Simpson Take 2

I played with shrinking the printer in the way I mentioned above. It was quickly evident that having the dropped bed would not work with the smaller footprint. The design changes quickly started...

Re: Sextupteron

It's a pity that Decapede hasn't made it to production. I'd like to help, but I don't have Altium. I've no idea what sort of price they had in mind...10 steppers surely enough for everyone?

Hmm, there's a challenge :) The cost per CPU pin goes down as the package size increases, but the soldering becomes increasing difficult. Splitting the task between multiple CPUs needs a high-speed...

@uncle_bob: My simplest idea to eliminate backlash. A set screw pushes apart two halves of a partially slit nut. A ball nose spring plunger set screw applies a constant anti backlash force, (2 to 5...

Ok, The outer wall of the barrel of the flange nut to the high point in the thread is ~ 0.160". That's going by what I can measure on one sample with a dial caliper. (you might have another 0.020) A...

Re: LISA Simpson Take 2

I think that moving the supports in takes care of most of the footprint issues. If you pack it in to tight, getting the print out of the machine will be a hassle. A max height / max diameter cylinder...
