Re: Worm Drive Grounded Delta Printer

@SolidusLabs: You have longer arms now, what is the size of the build envelope? Can it accurately reproduce the arms, and worm wheel? What is the print speed, and what do you think the top print speed...

Re: Building a 3DR "Simple"

My theory on the skew: DELTA_DIAGONAL_ROD is wrong. This would cause the X-Y symmetry to be maintained but skew Z.

Re: Building a 3DR "Simple"

I'm pretty sure I found the problem! I decided to examine the bot a lot more closely after re-re-re-measuring the tower heights and found this: IMG_20140127_182756.jpg That looks a bit warped, huh?...

Finally got the replacement printed in ABS with no curling... IMG_20140127_215444.jpg Sheesh, PLA is so much easier to work with! EDIT: Well, it actually warped a little even with the ears... It's not...

Re: Building a 3DR "Simple"

Much better now! Also, it turns out the as-designed numbers for the measurements are dead on! I'm doing the last bit of calibration now to make sure my rods are right at 200mm as well. Edit: They are.

Re: Building a 3DR "Simple"

Hmmm. It turns out the totally warped and deformed platform was _not_ the cause of the strange skewing. After I got it all back together with the new platform, and got it re-calibrated, I tried the...

Re: Building a 3DR "Simple"

In other news: I've added active cooling to my extruder stepper, since it is under a good bit of load all the time: IMG_20140127_235321.jpg A heatsink and fan are epoxied on with heatsink epoxy and a...

Printable area of Deltas (Rostock, 3DR,...)

Hello, I have checked that my 3DR has it's virtual limit in the square circumscribed in the circular platform. Visual explanation: delta_size_01.png That is, I'm able to move the extruder to any point...

Re: Printable area of Deltas (Rostock, 3DR,...)

I believe there is a setting in repetier (I assume that is what you are using), to switch your print area to circular/delta.

Re: Automatic bed level issues

The geometry setting that needs to be adjusted is DELTA_SMOOTH_ROD_OFFSET in Configuration.h. Depending on which branch of Marlin you are using these values may be different. Originally the value in...

Re: Printable area of Deltas (Rostock, 3DR,...)

Yeah! You are right hercek, those options are the ones that control the limits... it was there but I wasn't able to find it, thanks a lot! The curious thing is that by default they are set to 90mm,...

Re: Dual extrusion, E-only move causing XYZ motion, bug in Marlin?

Re: Delta hot end keeps melting plastic body

Yea that definitely sounds like a PID issue. It sounds like you are WAY overshooting your target temperature.

Re: The minimum angle between rods and tower?

The rods can go to "negative" angles (past vertical) in some designs. As long as nothing hits, there's no magic maximum angle. Look very carefully at what's going on for interference.
